This stunning facility has become a cultural hub in the San Gabriel Valley and is rapidly becoming a force in the Southern California theater scene. Founded in 2012, Higher Ground has established itself as one of the most popular martial arts centers in Los Angeles County.

The Covina Center for the Performing Arts is a full-service theater and cultural center in the heart of downtown, producing more than half a dozen equity shows annually and an annual festival.

High Ground Brazilian Jiu - Jitsu welcomes students of all levels and offers courses for children and adults. Gracie Barra offers a variety of JiuJitsu-inspired fitness classes, which can be found in the gym, gym and fitness center of the Covina Center for the Performing Arts. Classes are convenient and run from morning to evening, so you can fulfill your mental and physical goals during your jiu jutsu exercises, as well as practice in a safe environment.

The Academy's special education program will culminate in a jury experience that showcases the knowledge, skills and experience of students in the arts that can be used in college applications and auditions. College - Preparatory and general education courses are embedded in the Academy's curriculum and offer performance-oriented Advanced Placement classes that can earn college credits to ensure students meet the requirements for graduation and admission to college.

Students will be able to take excursions and networking opportunities of the Academy and get valuable industry insights from artists who teach in the performing arts, film, music, theater, dance and other disciplines. The passion of the highly motivated students for the arts prepares them for higher education and career opportunities at the Academy. They will do internships, get insights from industry experts and be prepared for a future in the arts. West Covina Unified has launched its first ever artistic education program to empower students to explore their creative potential, gain insights with industry professionals, and prepare students for future artistic careers in a variety of fields, including music and theater.

From the fall of 2021, the academy will be supported by a rugged 650-seat complex at the West Covina Performing Arts Center that includes a state-of-the-art performing arts center, performance and rehearsal space. Additional training rooms are also available for the state-of-the-art instrumental music building, which is due to be completed in autumn 2021. Designed as a school within a school, it will ensure that students, as they deepen their craft, also receive all the benefits of a traditional high school, including clubs, athletics and rigorous academic programs.

The original Covina Theater was built in the early 20th century as the first of its kind in Los Angeles County and has always been a fixture in downtown Covinas entertainment. Since Candy Box opened in 1961 at its original location on the corner of Broadway and Main Street, the theater has been a hotspot for many Covington teenagers.

With the advent of color films in the 1930s, the theater was rebuilt and continued to bring entertainment to the city of Covina. With the addition of sound films, renovations were again carried out and Candy Box was moved to its current location on the corner of Broadway and Main Street. The Masonic Lodge that had stood there was closed to make more room for a larger balcony section, and the second floor of the theatre was removed.

In the 1950s, the theatre was further rebuilt to accommodate the entertainment media presented to its guests. Two films were played in the evening, accompanied by the piano, and the West Covina Players opened their season with the musical classic "Fiddler on the Roof." In June 1993, they transformed the old Covinas Theater into the new Covinas Valley Playhouse.

The Covina Center for the Performing Arts opened to the public in October 2007 and is committed to bringing the highest level of theater education to West Covinas and the Los Angeles County, California area.

At the WCHS Performing Arts Academy, students benefit from a comprehensive curriculum that requires a degree in fine arts, and the courses are based on the students "artistic interests.
